Status Updates From Catwoman of East End Omnibus

Relentless Part 4 done!
The pieces have fallen into place & the mystery has unraveled. Black Mask was absolutely terrifying this issue. It’s things like Selina comforting Holly, coming to terms with her faults & immediately pursuing the issue without question that makes me love her so much. Seeing Holly get beat up & Sylvia showing up made me so angry. I’m looking forward to the payback.

Relentless Part 3 done!
Wow, the stakes are really piling up now. Selina wrestles with her pain & efforts made so far after losing the east end centre and searches for what really happened. The rest of this story is going to wreck her further considering Maggie goes missing too & Slam is in danger. I’m honestly terrified for everyone. I feel real bad for Simon.

Relentless Part 2 done!
I loved the interaction with Selina & Maggie and how Selina is willing to make amends as well as Maggie. The way Holly & the rest of the supporting cast guide Selina to be better is always so well written. The moments of lightheartedness we got at the opening party was fun too. Then, chaos ensues! Screw Sylvia. Hot trash. Feeling bad for Simon though:/

It was nice seeing more of Selina’s past with the Alleytown gang and how it shaped her today. Slam & Holly’s interactions in this book were fun to read & and a dynamic i’m very looking forward to seeing more of. I’m not entirely sure how i feel about a potential Slam & Selina relationship. ALSO, MAGGIE IS HEREE. Whoops, seems like Sylvia is the traitor after all.

Black Mask looks a lot better now than he did in his first appearance. He’s also extremely menacing which reminded me how dark this was. Also, i have a feeling it’s Maggie Kyle who was in the cell at the end there 😭.

This was a fun read but also those outfits. 😶

Interesting tidbit of Slam Bradley lore sprinkled in here.

The Many Lives of Selina Kyle done!
A solid story that shined light on the many different perspectives on catwoman and her relationship with batman. My favourite one in particular is the one Holly tells about Selina’s beginnings and her journey from then to now.

Joy Ride done!
This was a touching short story about Selina’s loyalty and empathy as she saves a person she once knew from childhood from death row. It was also nice seeing Bruce & Selina interact as well as the fun batcat treat at the end.

Disguises concluded!
It’s interesting to see that Selina definitely lives by her own moral compass and how she is set apart from other heroes. She’s cares most about her friends above all. The cracking down on corruption & watching the plan unravel was a fun read as well as the reveal of the Black Mask. Overall, a solid conclusion to the arc.

A fun little heist and once again the dynamic between and Selina & Slam is nice to read.

Disguises Part 2 done.
Always lovely to see leslie but i’m really loving the dynamic between Selina & Slam. Their dialogue is always fun and interesting to read. This characterisation of Selina dealing with corruption & conspiracies is for sure my favourite out of the ones i know.

Disguises Part One done.
It was nice seeing things through Holly’s perspective and how she views East End & being an informant for Selina. I’m curious what she’s gotten herself into and what it’ll lead to considering it’s the same corrupt sergeant we see working for Xavier Dylan. Also, the narration was wonderful alongside the cool lettering by Schubert.

Trickle Down Theory done.
It was nice to continue seeing Selina’s care for East End and the impact she is making on it despite the grim realities of drug trafficking and corruption presented in the issue. Also, it was great to see Slam again :)

Anodyne concluded!
This is my first time reading a solo catwoman story and i absolutely loved her characterisation in this arc. Her discovering the purpose of catwoman and her empathy towards east end developing through this detective mystery was an amazing read and makes me eager to continue on with her future stories. Ed Brubaker & Darwyn Cooke have knocked it out of the park.

Anodyne part 3 done!
I’m really enjoying Selina’s detective work this issue and her dynamic with Thompkins. She seems interesting and there’s definitely more to her to discover. Once again, cooke’s art is so good. It’s simple yet conveys character expressions really well. It also feels nostalgic and cartoony in the best way. The narration by Brubaker is still so excellent.

Anodyne Part 2 done!
Selina has been sooo interesting and a joy to read. She’s seemed to cast aside her doubts from the previous issue and (without realising) redefined who catwoman is. The art is once again splendid and super dynamic. Cooke’s sweeping shots are super cool too. How Brubaker writes Selina’s inner voice is amazing too. She honestly feels a lot like a windrunner or a willshaper.

Anodyne part 1 done!
I’m really looking forward to Selina’s journey of self discovery and healing. Some interesting set up there. The new suit looks really good too plus i loved the interaction with batman and the inner monologue she had while watching him fight crime. By the way, i feel like the serial killer murdering the women might be clayface???
Guess we’ll find out.

Trail of the Catwoman done!
Although we knew what was going on from Selinas big score this was still an enjoyable read. Slam was super enjoyable and interesting to read. He was a standout in the previous arc so this was a welcome story. Also, seeing bruce, especially as Batman, was great too. Slams introspection was engaging as well as reading Batmans perspective on the entire investigation. Overall, 4⭐️/5!

A fantastic prelude to Brubaker’s run and an engaging & grounded heist story. Darwyn cooke’s art is stylish and in a way feels nostalgic to look at? The supporting cast were great and the end of this arc was tragic but really sets up Selinas character for the rest of the story as she carries the burden and responsibilities born from this tragedy. 4.5/5 ⭐️

Book 2: Stark is done!
I like that we’re getting the POV’s of the supporting cast this early and learning more about Selina through them. Stark was intriguing and i’m very curious to learn what the betrayal was. The batman tease was really cool too!! There’s for sure going to be a traitor among the job and judging from the end of the issue it could be Chantel or she’s probably just dead.

I believe that is the first issue done.
Some interesting hints of character development for Selina. Enjoying the narration so far too and darwyn cooke’s art :) I have some questions about Stark & why Selina was declared dead but it’s only the first issue so looking forward to continuing.
