Status Updates From Matrix

Read this twice to better understand it, because I recommended it for my book club. Very interesting and beautifully written. Book Club will be the 2nd Tues. of the month and I would love it if the author could be at our meeting so we could ask our questions of her.

Lauren Groff’s Marie de France is apparently not-like-other-girls, so she makes fun of silly women who sigh over courtly love. Except Marie de France was an absolute pioneer in courtly love literature. (AND LITERATURE AS A WHOLE). Groff is so desperately trying to make Marie a XXI’s Century heroine, that she’s absolutely disrespecting her memory.
I thought this was supposed to be feminist?

So… this is basically a novel about women hating each other in the Middle Ages? 😫

In college I wrote a paper about Marie de France’s erotic poetry and one of my roommates later told me that she thought I was on the brink of schizophrenia during that process. Looking forward to this.
