I feel like this book teeters on "too many ideas in one book" syndrome. I was really finally vibing with the magic and all the arcane part, and now we've pivoted to magical folktales, mystical animal gods of old, and splitting the earth into the end of the world. There is definitely a story there, I just don't think it fits in the rest of the story or this setting of steam punk London adjacent brutal magic society.

Trying this again after trying it a couple of years ago. So far the MC is giving me big kid Kaz Breker vibes.
