From an artistic, writing angle I absolutely appreciate the tension it's bringing to the story because there is *urgent business* lurking in the background and this is an absolutely bonkers way to put the audience in the MC's shoes.

This book does not suffer from a sagging middle (we've got ghosts, supernatural[?] monsters[?], shootouts, violent deaths, runaway thieves, droughts, camels, interpersonal intrigue, and grumpy mothers).
So I have no idea why my progress has brgun to stall out over the past few weeks.
It's still a really enjoyable book, I'm just not super motivated to finish it.
