Better than I expected! Dual story lines with one in modern-day London and 1 in 1666-- Great Fire of London.
Think I enjoyed the 1666 story more.

Stopping mid chapter to get kids through showers and ready for school tomorrow. Very tempted to keep reading though.

I need to do the chores, get groceries, and run the recycling to the drop-off.

I have never studied the Great Fire of London in depth, and I am pretty sure this is the only book in my library that touches on it.

That said, I happen to know what Thomas did with his stock, and I find that fact rather amusing, as it hasn't been revealed.

Will have to make some progress on the chores before I get into the autopsy results!

Loved the line about mistaking celebrity for genius. Will be interesting to see what it means in context of the novel, but it's a good line regardless.

Samuel Pepys was referenced in my last book and made an appearance here as well. Wonder if the universe is trying to tell me something...

Hawtrey also sent literal chills down my spine in her description of violence amid the blaze. Something all too familiar in the prejudice exhibited there.
