Status Updates From Hello, Dove

Putting a pin in this reread to buddy read The Poisoner. I want to really take my time on this one because EVERY DETAIL, EVERY MOMENT, EVERY LINE deserves to be savored.

“But I’d been told many things. I’d been controlled in the disguise of guidance, I’d been manipulated by opinions, and I’d been lied to in the form of comforting words.” This is really the heart of the story isn’t it? Finding the voice to follow amidst the chorus is Dove’s central struggle and it pains me to read how far she must go to hear it.

This second read through has been DELICIOUS. I love how immersed I am in the story even right at the start. Like stepping off a ledge in the ocean and then sinking above my head. That’s what reading this author’s work is like. I wonder who she is and if she’s interested in collabing one day… 🤔

Look away if you don’t care to watch me be full of myself here, because this is one of the best stories ever and there’s genuinely just no other way to put it. I’m enthralled, I’m emotionally attached (of course), I’m eager to continue despite already knowing every. Single. Thing.
