Picking up speed as I switch from working through exercise by exercise in Chapter 5 to Rodenburg shifting to acting coach, going with the line that anyone speaking outloud is an actor. A bit thin, but gives her a chance to dive back into her man, Shakespeare. An avalanche of terms and techniques, some familar from chapter five, as if this is from a separate class... :)

Antithesis - in opposition but balanced, good for constructing an argument, as well to be aware of as you are reading it out.

More exercises:
Exercises for the Iambic - I suppose getting a feel for rhythm of speak, even if I'm not going to be reciting a lot of verse...
Repetition (as a technique of rhetoric) - which I suppose the whole book is...
Wit, Puns and Wordplay - hard to teach and Shakespeare is only funny when the pros really goose it, which might also be what Rodenburg is getting at.

Going through this one exercise a week, which is why I am sooo slow. But really trying to get the most out of the this book. Experience it all. Work each exercise! Part Two: Chapter 5 is the mother-load, skip to here if you are frustrated with the rest, especially Part One!

Chapter 5 of part 2 is where ALL the meat of this book is. The core that all the old person grousing was whipped up to fill up the rest to book size.

Finally finished the potification of Part 1 (though some thoughtful stuff about RP at the end). Looking forward to more grounded and practical words in Part 2.

Want to get to the practical work and away from the mix of sensible observations, nostalgia and technophobia.
