Very stressful! Makes one glad to be in fundraising instead of murder police.
Less flavor and poetry than you'll find in James Lee Burke's Robicheaux series, but what you do get is a grounded and detailed picture of 21st-century investigation. If you're interested in that and are fine with the plot being more interesting than the characters, I'd recommend. There's rough content, but it never felt indulgent.
