Oh God! Fithian had tokens of his lover that he wore around his neck. 😭 I’m so glad Thomas left them with him for his burial.

Eleanor questions David. I’m pretty sure that Prior Vincent is the murderer. Or at the very least he’s involved somehow. Also I like that the discovery about Fithian is making Thomas think about his own place in the world regarding his gender, especially since monks were seen as feminine by medieval society.

Okay so far the book is handling Father Fithian being intersex pretty well. The book IS using the term “hermaphrodite” but that would be the historically accurate term.

Father Fithian is dead. And it’s revealed he was intersex! Let’s see how our main characters treat this
