Status Updates From The Mutual Friend

The details of the LL Bean boots, bottle of vodka, roar like Godzilla and the remote control model train cracked me up. Very much like a flash of a scene from How I Met Your Mother.

“Tulip had two states: liquid and solid. When she was on her iPad, she was a puddle, a wet spot on the couch that you didn’t even notice unless you felt for it. But when the iPad wasn’t in her hand, she was a solid, sitting upright, all knees and elbows, muscular and unsnuggly. It was in her solid state that she brought out the probing questions about Alice’s personal life.”

“But now…something’s happened to my brain. I don’t know what it is. But I think it has to do with this phone I can’t stop looking at every 30 seconds.”

Her phone, asleep by the bread plate, suddenly woke up, its blue light troubling the ice water. BING!

At this point, while Roxy and Alice have similar problems with the distraction of their phones, Roxy doesn’t seem to mind or care about it, necessarily, while Alice has more awareness that it could be a problem.
