Status Updates From Coming Home

Judith finds out Loveday's husband is cheating on her and her advice is to grin and bear it. I, personally, would've told her to leave the tiny house and move back into her family mansion. What would Walter do? Angrily ride a horse around the grounds in protest? What's the point of having rich parents if you don't go to them in times of need! Ugh.

It's the bare minimum, but THANK YOU Hugo for choosing not to sleep with Judith because she's too vulnerable and it wouldn't be right. After Edward leading her on to take her virginity then telling her he's not in love with her, and Jeremy sleeping with her while she's crying over her probably dead mother, FINALLY a man in this book understands sex isn't always the answer! I bet she's not gonna end up with him though

Well, I was right to dislike Edward. What a complete dick, sleeping with Judith to ensure her first time isn't traumatic after finding out she was sexually assaulted, then blithely telling her he doesn't love her. He's the one that said he'd been constant and patient with her, as if they were courting, and yet never had any actual interest in her at all. I hope she's not pregnant, I really WILL fight him, then.

I have to say although I still adore this story, I really hope Edward isn't the actual official love interest. He irritated the hell out of me, suddenly kissing Judith without asking for consent (it's the 30s, I get it), then proceeding to grab her chest?? Again, without permission. And then he crawls into her bed at 3AM to explicitly NOT apologise because in his words, he didn't do anything wrong. I'll fight him.
