It’s written as if things are simply happening to Ann, like she doesn’t have autonomy??? Things happen, good or bad, and she just lets them happen with no input. Where’s the emotion???

I don’t know if it’s the writing or some strange kind of nuance between Ann and Rachel, but their friendship seems so linear, where they share things with one another, but it’s so impersonal and doesn’t flow in the same way that other friendships are written.

Are they friends? Are they work friends? Or are they strangers? Bc I’m starting to feel like one is going to betray the other
