Status Updates From Singleness: Living Faithfully

God will enable us to value Christ's righteousness more highly than anything else, including our own prideful gains and self-sufficiency (see Phil. 3:7-11). God has made us secure in our belonging to Christ so that we can press on. With our eyes toward the hope of resurrection, we can move forward even when things seem difficult, discouraging, or hopeless (see Phil. 3:11-16)

God redeems our experiences of suffering, including rejection, loneliness, disap pointment, and griet, by bringing us into us into a more intimate rela tionship with Christ, who endured all these things and more (see Phil. 3:7-11).

God shapes our minds, enabling us to grow in knowledge and discernment.

Loneliness is something we all experience on this side of heaven. It's not merely a desire for companionship, nor is it syn onymous with being alone. For me, loneliness feels like a restless awareness of a void within me. Something is missing; something is unsatisfied, unfulfilled.

Christ's resurrection and our hope of eternal life with him can change the way you experience suffering and the hardships of being single. No matter what comes, we do not lose heart because the life of Christ is at work in us (see 2 Cor. 4:7-18).

When your singleness leaves you doubting whether God keeps his promises, you can look to the cross and the empty tomb and see that Jesus's life, death, and resurrection fulfill God's promises woven throughout the Old Testament (see Gen 3:15; Ps. 22; Isa. 52:13-53:12). God has been faithful, and you can be assured he will keep his promises to you.
