Jack asks it about toys. The knight responds that not many toys live in Bother It’s Gone. I wonder why.

They see the shiny new sign and they walk into town. Won’t that be suspicious? The town is a neat and pretty town like a brand-new neighborhood. He imagines DP living here because he is so beloved. All the houses look comfortable inside. Everything here look nicer and valued. They see a chess piece (a knight) and an address book. The latter is excited to be given a tour of the town. The knight runs off quickly.

Ch. 25 The cart is moving and Jack woke up. They are almost at Bother It’s Gone. He and CP decide to jump out. They apologize to Lunchbox. She tells them they were rude but wishes them luck. The cart is the last one in the wagon train. They jump off into the snow. They are at the top of a mountain and have clear view of the wastes of the unlamented. Nothing is moving. Things are in hiding or they have been eaten.

She calls them rude and nasty but is glad to see something new. The wagon comes to a stop when they are hailed. Documents are checked to verify everything is inspected. Apparently, the Loser is angry. Once the night of miracles is over everything belongs to him. They are instructe to settle down and go to sleep. They are on their way to “Bother, It’s Gone.” I don’t understand how this will help them find DP.

Ch. 24 The stuff inside the lunchbox is the inhalor. The CP and Jack squeezed inside the smelly lunchbox with an egg salad inside. The lunchbox argues with them. CP and Jack make threats against the lunchbox and she threatens them back. CP is mean to them. The sheriff delivers good news. The lunchbox gets on the wagon and it moves off. The CP and Jack let go of the inhalor.

They hear a noise and they see black hats out in the street. Loss adjustors are coming into town. They are creating a new checkpoint because something that doesn’t belong is there. They ask the sheriff if he has seen anything suspicious. Uh, oh! Sheriff tells them about the odd toys he talked to. They have three to adjust (lunchbox, the stuff inside, and fingers). A bus pass, key, and passport are arrivals.

Ch. 23 CP scolds Jack for raising the sheriff’s suspicion. He actis like a boy who lost his toy. He’s worried that inspectors might start asking questions about the Pajama Boy cartoon. Meanwhile they are thinking of a plan. A cobweb stretches across the finding hole in the ceiling. Jack is too worried about DP to sleep. He and CP look outside. CP explains what alivening it. Alivening came to CP when he was chosen.

Sheriff talks about how children were different in his day when children had fewer toys. They passed Door 23 (where the lunchbox is). Their room is Door 20. Jack asks about a toy fitting the description of DP and the sheriff does not recall seeing them. Then the sheriff gives him a suspicious look.

Houses with gardens are given in Bother It’s Gone. The upbeat sheriff encourages them to make the best of Disposable if they must stay. The sheriff gets ready to assign rooms. A lunchbox complains about the smelly food inside it and Scissors says nasty things to it. The sheriff takes Jack and CP to their room. He’s curious about how they were lost. Jack sticks to the cover story. CP adds their owner is a spoiled boy.

The comb is upset so the sheriff sends him upstairs.
Part 3 is about the Land of Disposable.
Ch. 22 The sheriff asks Fingers to play Christmas carols to cheer people up. “O Little Town of Bethlehem” cheers up nobody but that’s exactly what they need to do. There might be an adjustment and something in Living will happen (they need new batteries and they start looking for them). They go to the town Bother It’s Gone.
