Status Updates From Tracy Flick Can't Win

CHARACTERIZATION: Tracy Flick is an asst. principal to the retiring principal. She's unsuccessfully applied for several other principal jobs. "I'd be lying if I said that everyone of those defeats didn't take something out of me. They undermined my confidence, sapped my energy, & damaged my reputation." (p. 146) Tracy was once an over-achieving student, but adversity has caused her to lose sight of her strengths.

ANTAGONIST: Vito Falcone is one of the many antagonists to protagonist, Tracy Flick. "There was always a Vito Falcone. The Golden Boy. The Handsome Jock. The Big Man on Campus...Let's elect him President. Let's put his face on a bronze plaque." (p. 52) Tracy has a great deal of resentment towards the people in her community that are recognized for their accomplishments that were not all that great.
