The Lord is the one who cast us off and he is the one who causes grief. This should humble us before him; it should also give us comfort. Because he is both sovereign and abundantly loving toward us, the Lord will put an end to our suffering at exactly the right moment.

Although we might not say it aloud, “I can’t wait” becomes the sincere cry of our hearts. We really can’t wait or at least we can’t wait well.
