Status Updates From Zwingli: God's Armed Prophet

I will echo what my good friend from college once told me: when presenting a new interpretation of Scripture, the burden of proof will always be on the presenter. Zwingli’s utter frustration towards everyone is what ultimately set him on his downfall and his repudiation of a theology that I disagree with.

Zwingli is such a complex man. On one hand, I am amazed by the simplicity and intensity of his faith and am astounded by his theology on God, faith, and the church. On the other, I cannot condone his desire to bring about God’s in his present time, how he used the government of Zurich to enforce his views on what constitutes Biblical worship and suppress opposition, nor his views on the Lord’s Supper.

“Here we see more clearly than day the origin of religion. It took its rise when God called a runaway man back to Himself, when otherwise he would have been a deserter forever.”

I respect Zwingli’s position on the sacraments, but I still have to respectfully disagree with him on both.
