Interesting history so far, though I’m not sure I’m totally aligned ideologically with this author. It’s a bit odd to assert that trade is as inherent to human nature as our need for food and shelter, and then also mention that, e.g., 120,000 workers died during one Egyptian ruler’s (failed) attempt to create the Suez Canal. Seems more societal/systemic than primal/innate to me idk.
