P.S. I’m looking sideways at Leo for thinking that things would simpler if Savine (his wife mind you) had died already. That is insane.

I was scared Vick was going to die at Smiler’s hands no less. It is interesting to me that she is still using blunt weapons and even her knife did not kill him. Much to think about.

I just love how Vick’s life has been one disaster after another, I hope that boy run to his home and never say a word about this to anyone but knowing their luck I wouldn’t be surprised if he brought a whole regiment of Burners on them. And there’s also the possibility of Smiler and the other guy bringing Sergeant Hambeck back and there’s no bar at the door. Man this is a disaster in waiting.

Hats off to Savine! She’s doing an amazing job. I wonder if the letter is truly from Liddy and May or if Savine took the liberty to write it herself. That would be insane but hey, she’s gotta do what she’s gotta do at this point.

There are too many references to Zuri being an Eater for her not to be one right? Well, unless the author is playing with me and wants me to think that only for her to be a normal human being.

“‘Tight enough,’ squeaked Gorst, and Vick pulled the strap through the buckle and gave his breastplate a thump with her fist. Felt like the right thing to do when helping a man on with his armour.” I love Vick, that was funny, she didn’t have to do that.

I respect Clover’s sense of self-preservation. I honestly should’ve seen Downside’s coming. I don’t like that they took to calling her “Black Rikke”…I mean, Tricky Rikke was better. And the name itself seems to only bring bad luck. I knew it, that lad is Calder’s son, or related to him at least. I’m worried for Rikke.

That scene at the end was a bit random, did Rikke ask for Caurib’s help? Because if not then it’d be very weird. Does she have something against the folks from past the Crinna? It was cool though.

Another multi-pov chapter! This time with a ten new POVs; Corleth, Hardbread, Flatstone, Ignet, the Nail, Trapper, Sholla, Scenn, Rance, and Scunlich. I knew it! Corleth is the spy, though I didn’t expect her granny to be in on it too. I swear everyone has been underestimating Rikke and she’s been playing it to her advantage since the beginning. It felt nice beating Black Calder and his men!

I feel for Rikke though, a battle the second day of your period is insane. I love the fact that she and Corleth had their periods synched up, it does happen sometimes.

I’m glad that Rikke killed Stour Nightfall. Black Calder would never have honored their “deal” if she gave him his son back and the damage has been done already the moment they hobbled him so why not go all the way there and finish it? But killing him and throwing him from the same spot Bethod was killed and thrown from was a very poetic touch I must say. Now I hope Rikke (& Shivers) makes it out of it alright
