Status Updates From Crime Scene

we love the true crime feel but not sure the writing style is for me.

So far, these poems aren’t hitting the way the ones in her Into the Forest and All the Way Through collection.

“Accepts the stabs of a great deception. There is and will only ever be grief. There will be no forgetting. This was past. Lick the cobwebs. Step into the present.”


The protag is a female homicide detective
Interesting to note that Cynthia tends to write about police in a positive way

Tries to establish an emotional bond between reader and officer
Empathy not only for victims but for what she must witness

No set poetry style each report different

Report 0001 not my thing but understand the point of the poem
- only using words that start w c
-all related to cop job and crime from start to end

Poetry book that is in a sense like poetic prose - each case report is meant to be read in order that it appears in the book

First time reading this kind of horror poetry
