I just finished Ruth today. It really is fascinating how most of Scripture up until this point is following the people of Israel as a whole, then zooms in close upon three individuals - Naomi, Ruth, and Boaz. From Boaz and Ruth eventually comes King David… and eventually, Jesus.
My takeaway: Even when Yahweh isn’t doing flashy things (there’s no miracles in this book), He is still working His good will.

In those days Israel had no king; all the people did whatever seemed right in their own eyes.
- Judges 21:25 (cf. 17:6)
Contrary to the bold declaration of faith in Yahweh made by the people of Israel at the end of the previous book (Josh. 24:16-22), time and again they broke their covenant with Yahweh and worshipped other gods. Yet despite their faithlessness, Yahweh was faithful to save them time and again.

Finally finished Joshua today. This has been over a month in the making - I just unfortunately kept putting it off.
The command for Joshua to be strong and courageous repeats several times. I wonder: do we, in our various callings, also need to be reminded constantly to be strong and courageous? Personally, I think so.
