Treated myself to a lovely little whimsical girl afternoon in the summer sun. Sat under a tree amongst the grass and barley in Central Park (East Ham not New York) 💚

I think reading the book in two sittings affected the way I see it/my enjoyment of it. I believe I would derive more pleasure from reading it in one sitting. The story was contemplative & meandering & would probably cohere a bit better if I’d read it all in one go. 3.5/5 stars. I liked it a lot though, &I’d probably re-read it one day (once I’ve got a physical copy). I’m interested to read more by the author!

I kept on waiting for something tragic to happen along the way but I’m pleasantly surprised that nothing happened. It was a gentle, and a little bit melancholic slice of life, following the minor frog in his quest to to discover more of the world. I’m obsessed with the character designs and their little clothes and cup noodles and coffee and swords. The world is so charming!

I liked this a lot! It was a fun, charming fairytale-esque little adventure. I loved the art! The way the book was drawn and inked is reminiscent (in a way) to that of the manga style (not that it has only one style but there’s something about it that reminds me of it) especially of those early works. Seeing the world through the minor frog’s eyes was delightful! He was so curious and compassionate.
