So I want to like Liliana’s character so much but I actually don’t trust her one bit. Part of me thinks she’s an informer and she has been the one spying on Cristian. Like nobody knew about their back alley coca-cola rendezvous BUT HER. Do I think Lucas is an informer as well? Def. Like Cristi even specified that Lucas reported him. BUT MAN LILIANA IS SO SKETCH AND IDK HOW TO DESCRIBE IT

I learned that the kid is from Romania, he is doing illegal things that are against his countries rules.

The writer appears to be incorporating non English words into the dialogue, "Hei"(Ruta Sepetys 2).

The communist setting is kinda cool, and the characters are pretty interesting. I wonder how he gonna juggle being a spy and stopping his family from getting killed. "Remember, Christian, You never know who's listening. Please, don't draw attention to our family" (Sepetys 11)

at the start we learn about the setting in Bucharest, Romania 1989 we learn that people make fun of him because they say," Nice hair, do you cut it with a kitchen knife.(Sepetys pg2).

We learn about Christian and what his life is like in Romania, the book appears to be good so far, except for Christian who has been blackmailed to spy, "It was an order, and one that comprimised all principles of decency. I'd be a rat, a turnator, secretly informing on the private lives of others," (Sepetys 11)

At the start we learn our character lives in Romania it is very strict with there secret police otherwise known as "'The blue-eyed boys'" who don't seem very friendly at the start (Sepetys 8). I am interested to see how this play out.

The main character is a Romanian boy who goes to schools just like me but then a little bit later is stuck in a cold basement and gets taken with these strange men, "there are twenty-three million Romanians. Do the math. Securitate agents, they're everywhere" (Sepetys 6). I think they will ask him to be a Securitate agent.
