Struggling to get into this world a bit. Surprising really because after the last book (book before this) I would have happily set up camp outside the author’s home, prostrate, begging for the next instalment.

Audio edition.
I’ve listened to the last 8 books over the past few weeks. These books do not get old. I’ve listened to them multiple times and still enjoy them.

Not Ben kinda just ignoring that fact that Nik killed Nate. Also the theme of the book is pretty much Ben would love Nik no matter what he does. And putting Aleksey to rest. But it was a bit boring I was actually looking forward to them going to the US for their vacation

There is only one event happening in this book and it’s Ben finding out that Nik caused Nate to die. Usually they go somewhere and there’s a mystery that they solve together

He’d known in his heart that when the blade fell, it would fall at just such a moment, a moment in their lives when everything was perfect. And he’d taken his anger, his frustration out on Ben. An anchor round his neck? Well, yes, in a way it was true. True in the sense that anchors held safe those in peril on the sea. Ben was his protector, his armour—made him safe. Ben made him loveable.

From where he waited in the shadows, it appeared to Aleksey that Ben wasn’t standing in candlelight, but that he created the illumination.

Sennybridge, and what he had seen there, was a threat to all of this. He’d known it the moment the fall had begun. A removal of a hood, a stare into the sunlight-through-jade exotically shaped eyes of a stranger, and the solid ground beneath his feet had given way, a plunge as physically real as if he stood on an unstable mountainside in some Godforsaken earthquake region of the world…
