He left me capsized, sinking in an emotional state I'd never even known I'd wanted, until the moment it happened. I couldn't decide which was worse, not knowing what it felt like to be held, or knowing, with no one there afterward, to open their arms and welcome you in when you needed it again. How could you learn to love feeling vulnerable, your hull shattered and taking on water?

This is where the story gets foggy for me, because it has grown in the years, twisting into the shapes people need it to. This is what people who weren't there claim, and what they believe.

I had a ridiculous desire to put Tim's regular clothes back on him, like that would make this terrible situation go away…. The new clothes stacked on my dresser were like a medicine themselves, something I could do. Probably Christine had already brought things, but when your hands are tied, you ache to do anything, to coax a better future from the sky.
