Status Updates From Camping with the Dead

The book offers a variety of subtle and explicit pop culture references from the opening with four friends playing Left 4 Dead; the protagonist named James, seemingly a reference to the protagonist of Silent Hill 2; the bath salts cannibal case; zombie movies like Night of the Living Dead and World War Z; etc.

Camping With The Dead is a story about a group of friends that decide to participate in a zombie themed camping experience until it gets all too real. James, and his hometown friends, benefit from the similarities of their real life counterparts. I particularly enjoyed the chapters of James’ life settling into his career hours from home.
