Interesting read but I think the author has greatly overreached on what ren is. 仁as a concept is rooted in humanity - my understanding of it is that its an ideal for humans to strive to - to be kind/thoughtful/virtuous/altruistic and is external facing. I understand Ooi trying to say we need to be kind to ourselves, but that’s not what 仁is? Also how can cats be 仁 if they aren’t even human?
