I'm genuinely shocked by how the fuck this narrator is reading something this fucking racist IN A FAKE RACIST ACCENT like it's no big deal. This is absolutely unhinged.

Oh lord. There's zero saving grace in this "red indian" section 😭 This 100% racist AND they've got the audiobook narrator doing a straight-up racist accent too wtf

Yeah, it's wild. The one girl is very kind and 'progressive' for a child of her day (the other has made truly zero impression on me at all) but the boys both suck. Tiny imperialist bullies. Yuck.

oh now THAT is interesting. super duper racist bit... which ends with it being very clearly stated that the racism was ALL coming from the protagonists, both in terms of judgment and in the kids literally (albeit unintentionally) magically forcing the travelers to comply with the hateful stereotypes.

since i've seen tell that there's more racism coming up, i'm interested whether that too will be subverted.
