Halfway through Sepulchre - getting irritated with the constant need for demonstrations of knowledge and language - adds lots of unnecessary descriptions - getting tedious. Coming hot on the heels of it in Labyrinth it’s a bit much. Feels like “showing off”. Far too much detail and over descriptive. The writing itself is good but could have been trimmed a lot more and thus enhanced the pace.

‘In normal circumstances Sandrine would have cavilled at the thought of breaking into someone’s house - especially a policeman’s - but Lucie was tired and needed a glass of water’ says everything you need to know about this set of books. The best thing about them is that Kate Mosse didn’t write more.
