The author really went the full cliché road for the romani/gitana community "black shirt unbuttoned, gold teeth, playing the guitar" lol ok mamen sanchez you'd be surprised to see how were my ancestors
Tbf the british got their share of clichés as well in this book

So far in this book, we have fatphobia, lots of homophobia and of course the whole story relies on antitsiganist narratives and stereotypes, I'm actually annotating and I never do so except for poetry.
(I'm not dnfing because I'm interested in studying/researching romani representation in literature, and unfortunately I know 90% of it is just bullshit hurtful stereotypes and not a single reviewer bats an eye)

Ignoring my last update, there IS one Roma character or part-Roma so yeahhh representation but the way the author introduces the character's family is like this: "gypsy curses" I hateeee it here and I'm still fighting flu-like symptoms (covid?) so I won't have any patience for stereotypes
