Jokes aside — invaluable, insightful, much-needed book. Proper spirituality, even, and maybe especially, for the absolutely non-spiritual — just like yours truly here.

The importance of self-discipline, of having the courage to pay attention and examine oneself frankly, and to separate what truly matters from all the noise, the trickery, all the cheap entertainment and futile pleasures — I don't like the term, but call it spirituality if you want — seems like the antidote for the goddamn (pun intended) senseless world we're living in.
