i don't know what it is; this book is pleasant enough but this feels like the stakes aren't... staking. that's cool that janus is a vampire but what about it? nothing. ellie is good but a little boring and gerald is truly the best character but ... how are you gonna have her suddenly have her wander away from him. idk man i dont think gerald would have just let her go, curse or no curse. feels a bit clunky. eh.
