Status Updates From Chronic City

I'm having a little trouble with the writing style of this novel. I will keep trying however if it's gets too much, I'll drop it.

This novel reminds me of my adult years going to college in NYC. Good weed, strange booze and smell of crack in the air. So many of my classmates didn't make it graduation mentally and physically. Also they talked everyone to death about garbage all day.

Each Lethem novel is a big swing, not always a hit, but this book is turning out to be a smash.

Really enjoying this Lethem. Typical setup - a slightly likable gadabout befriends a local NYC weirdo and nothing really happens.

I encountered this in both Feral Detective and Dissident Gardens, but didn’t really connect with them. Lethem is very challenging, but this book has no slow slogs.

With this book, I’m marveling at the characters and digging the weirdo plot.
