Status Updates From The Scarlet Letter

I quit reading halfway through, because the writing style was more than I wanted to tackle - felt like sludging through deep mud. This was a Book Group pick by Nancy, but I just couldn't read any more.

I am convinced that Nathaniel Hawthorne does not know how to properly end a sentence. I get that conventional 1850s English is a lot different compared to today, but nobody is making you use that many commas bro.
