Status Updates From Blutbuch

In the last part, it gets pretentious. Kim writes letters to Grossmeer in English. In one of the last ones, they explain pompously their task of their generation to dig deeper in their traumata, unbury the inter-generational ones and squeeze them out like puss. Oversensitivity defined.

Kim wants to use a language that streams. Which opens instead of defining and limiting. But they rightly suspect that their way of writing, speaking and defining is excluding as well.
Long passages of researching blood beeches (Blutbuch(e)) with excurses on classic literature and its masculine view are followed by pseudo CVs of alleged female ancestors in the 14th century. Female bloodlines, blood beeches.

While it calls itself a novel, it's autobiographical. Or autofictional. Framed as a written confession to the Grossmeer (grandmother - a mix of German and French).
I constantly search what distinguishes Kim from a gay man. Body negativity. Their feeling of their body having no boundary. Only feeling themself when entered by someone else. Refusal of the masculine (gay) role. Kim tried that in their early twenties.

I'm working on broadening my literary horizon. More books by female authors, by young authors, from different cultures. Enough writers I read are gay. Often, that doesn't make a difference. But this is the first essentially queer book I read.
My expectations are low, the blurb deters me. The first 20 pages are better than hoped. Surprisingly, I like the style so far. This mix between gendering and Swiss oddities.

Wow, beeindruckende Sprache, geradezu poetisch. Thema auch eindringlich ehrlich
