Well, when a guy picks out a dame for himself he's in love with something in himself that hasn't got anything to do with the dame. She looks like his mother, or she's dark and he's scared of blondes, or maybe he's getting even with somebody, or maybe he ain't quite sure he's a man and has to prove it.

I really will miss all the wacky friends I feel I have made in Cannery Row and this sequel Sweet Thursday.

I have loved waking up each morning to see what hijinx the neighbors of Cannery Row are up to.

If you would like to re-visit Steinbeck's work but look at him from a different prospective, I highly recommend these 2 novels.
