Status Updates From The Last Emperor of Mexico:...

I've come to realize how much history/information packed on each as I have to stop and make notes for further research or reread paragraphs/sentences to ensure I captured the information properly. This has not become a hinderance to my reading enjoyment of the book however because it is just fascinating to see how many stories of history intertwine while I would have gotten isolated bits of it elsewhere

Ending the prologue, I'm not going to oversell it but I am hooked to read more knowing that Maximillian ties into Napoleon III's story a I didn't expect to see that name come up. Just from that too, I am intrigued to see how this French and U.S. trying to dominate/invade Mexico plays into the history and I somewhat get history of the 3 places. There is already mention of the civil war, Monroe Doctrine, presi., etc.
