All the times I’ve inwardly struggled to keep track of Russian names and nicknames in Tolstoy and Dostoyevsky etc were child’s play compared to this book. Every character’s name is a number followed by a flower and as a consequence, of the 50 odd characters that have been introduced I can only reliably identify two of them.
