"he didn't take my hand, but held my upper arm and walked very close to me, the way a hostage taker might lead a victim if he had a gun. It was an unusual way to walk, but I liked how close he was, how intimate it felt."
Desperate and pitiful. Just attention & touch starved that this behavior is preferable. Urgh!

This MC is so pitiful..and not in an endearing "I'm rooting for you" way. Like girl....get some depth...some personality apart from small town nobody...maybe even try getting a grip. Sry...her whole being just erks me.
