Status Updates From Oedipus Rex

This is gonna be a long semester of reading plays🫩

ewww he's gouging his eyes out with his mother/wife's brooches.

He was so slow to realise the truth. idk how he defeated the sphinx earlier.

Oedipus is crashing out at Creon for no reason at all 🙄

'I would fight for him as if he were my father' Sophocles is having a field day with this. Bro was probably snickering in bed as he kicked his legs up giddily at how clever he was being.

'I am the king now, I hold the throne he held then, possess his bed and a wife, who shares our seed.' I'm going to throw up ew. She's also his mum 😭 Whoever originally made this was not OK.

Oedipus is a bit of a hypocrite tbh. I watched a summary video before reading this and he ends up passing the rest of his life peacefully after exile. Right now he's cursing the murderer (himself even if he's not aware) to spend his entire life in agony because of being the 'plague'. Maybe I'm being too harsh on him though, we'll see.

Oh plague. How wonderful of Apollo.
