Just the introduction alone is so so powerful.

Glad I read the short story first, then came back to the introduction to reflect on the story

Already questioning how I assign race to characters if the author doesn’t explicitly say or indicate a certain race. And how often it happens.
Like with Maggie, “the mute… kitchen woman with legs like parenthesis,” at the shelter (pg 7).
