Status Updates From In Between

I stepped into his room, twirling and splaying my arms out to the sides, modeling the shirt for him as if it were a pretty new dress. The hem fell to just below my knees, and the sleeves went past my elbows. He laughed and shook his head at me then clicked on an old Disney movie for us to watch. I had to say something to lighten the oppressive mood that was now filling the silence. “Amber was cute.” Damien’s mouth twitched, & I wasn’t sure if it was a smile or a scowl. He set down the bottle he was looking at & approached me with heavy footsteps. I bit my lip & kept my eyes down. He grabbed my jaw & gently forced my head upward to look into his eyes. “You’re mine now. & his. Don’t forget it.”
