Jill Newman and her friends are seniors at Gold Coast Prep and are in a secret society for the IT groups. Jill's best friend, Shaila, was killed by her boyfriend, Graham, 3 years ago. Jill now thinks there's more to the story. She says, "Blunt force trauma. That's what her death certificate says. But that's not really how she died" (Goodman 31).
