1% in, and the premise is interesting, though not exactly surprising. The grammar is rough—especially the verb tenses—and it’s pulling me out of the story more than I’d like. I’m guessing the author isn’t a native English speaker. That said, the book hasn’t lost me yet, so I’m pushing on to see where it goes.
