Status Updates From 四畳半神話大系

All of a sudden this book has gotten compelling and I’m so pissed it’s waited until now to try and do anything interesting.

MC escapes the tatami galaxy via moth swarm that appears when he finds his removed tooth looks like Colosseo inside. He runs to the river where Ozu is being chased by the entire school and witnesses him fall in. The events play out as usual, expect this time he tells Ozu helping is his love language, not the other way around. MC realizes theres more to life and has a newfound appreciation for everyone and everything

Infinitely exploring rooms, found a room with the doll, with all the moths, the scrub brush. Funny how everything is linking in some way

MC realizes the book per shelf differs. Recalls old plot point where he was washing his plush bear and then underwear was actually in the machine when he opened it, mirroring chapter 3 where he was washing underwear and a plush came out. Makes me think all the universes are connected

The rooms go on infinitely, letting MC have food and not starve like he was for a second

MC joined the lucky cat club which is responsible for a bunch of sub programs on campus (like the secret paper writing program for students)

MC is stuck in an infinite amount if tatami rooms after trying to go to the bathroom in the middle of the night. The bathroom was his room and then his room was his room too. The windows outside is his room as well. Blames it on the fortune teller lol

Letter writer was actually Ozu so MC debates being intimate with the doll. Jogasaki storms in and beats him before he can cuz he finds out where the doll is.

Usual scene plays out on the bridge. Ozu hangs on the railing after being chased by MC, Jogasaki, and Akashi. Moths come, he falls and breaks his leg, etc. Akashi was writing the letters to MC and they date in the end. MC & Ozu have normal exchange at the end

Found out MC has a pen pal, and then goes downtown and talks to the fortune teller like usual. This time he gets the sign after running into Hanuki for drinks and shes trying to lick his face drunk at her apartment.

He has a side convo with his “Johnny” about giving in but doesnt and then goes home defeated the next day, blaming Ozu for his life. Gets castella cake again from Hanuki as an apology.
