The first 2 chapters have done a reasonably good job of 1) keeping my attention and 2) creating curiosity about what is to happen next. As stated earlier, the quotes from Chuang Tse are a great touch, as I believe I’m thinking more deeply about the ongoings of the book (or, perhaps, thinking in a more targeted way) with the influence of the quotes. One could also argue that not having the quoted would allow freedom

Interesting thus far. I’ve always been fond of Tao Te Ching so the quotes from Zuangzhi are very much welcome (and great to keep the mind engaged about why they were put there in the first place). The opening of the book, in some ways, gives me vibes akin to my first experience watching Shutter Island.

this book may be deeply mislabelled as scifi. this is straight up horror.
