We sit in the pub with a huge jug of iced water, a pot of tea and a lot of food. 'Can't believe it's over, can't believe we've walked so far.'

We're looking down the valley of trees and rock that bends away towards Marsden, when a large grey bird appears. A peregrine falcon has lifted from a rock ledge just metres away, holding for a moment in the high wind, as if unable to go forwards, then dropping back to the ledge.

The tent looks very small on the stony shore of Loch na Gainimh, totally overshadowed by the sheer-sided immensity of the mountains rising on the opposite side of the loch.
