I love how Malcolm and Anna’s bond is not only growing stronger as a married couple, it’s literally a major plot point. It’s hard to make a couple that’s been married for 10 years seem romantic, but they very much are in this book.

Anna holding her five year old and trying to remember her as a baby really hit home. My own kid is almost 5 and when things are hard I also want to give her a big hug.

I'm re-reading the skyworm scenes before I write their sections for Book II. Getting the trick of their narrative voice usually takes me several attempts.

All the human chapters in Book II are done for this round (yay)! I've been working on this draft in some form or another for five years. I'm excited to move it into production and turn my creative energy to Book III.

It’s so annoying that the book doesn’t have its number of pages indicated. I used to live when we could all add missing information to books, which we can’t anymore 🥲 Anyway, the book is off to a good start. It’s a little slower than I would like, but it may be because I haven’t read a fantasy in A HOT MINUTE. Getting back into it.
