Status Updates From The Feminist Killjoy Handbook

Ok it’s getting better and making points. The academic style takes some getting used to.

Not enjoying this. Reading it as part of one of the book clubs I’m in. The structure is not working for me. Each chapter has all these lists: Killjoy Truth, Killjoy Survival Tip… this is a beginner book of online feminist discourse. Going to have to skim this one.

Ik Vond het eigenlijk allemaal ongelofelijk vaag en onuitgewerkt. Het thema is zo interessant maar daar stopt het ook een beetje, ik ga snel nog iets van haar lezen want ik hoor wel steeds goede dingene

I knew what I was being told. I was being told inequality is natural. That it is because of biology that such and such situation exists. This is how it is. What babies need. What women provide. Who we are. What we are for. And when you are told, in one way or another, that you oppose what is natural, you are made unnatural.

"You might hear the sound of a twig snapping. You might not have noticed the twig before, not noticed the pressure on the twig, how it was bent. When it snaps, it catches your attention. You might hear the snap as the start of something. A snap is only the start of something because of what you did not notice: the pressure on the twig."
