She's 16, bratty & immature, despite opinions of some characters who say she's had to be more responsible than most her age. (She ran her invalid grandma's estate in her stead.) She's contrary to force her 'wicked' guardian to pay attention to her. Though I'm brat-fatigued at the moment, (see Tempting Fortune, blech), I'm still enjoying the author's wonderful, dry wit.

This is an old-fashioned Regency with a semi-bratty heroine, so far I can take it; but after Tempting Fortune, I'm hyper-sensitive to contrary stupidity. Heroine here is 16 so her bouts of bravado and bad behavior make sense. Still, I hope it doesn't become the crux of the plot. We'll see.
